News from the Youth Ministry Office
Greetings everyone! As you are all aware, Covid has affected our world and in particular our parish life in so many ways these past three years. We had to stop all of our programs in March of 2020 and the following year we began doing sacramental preparation online.
This past fall I returned to “in person” parent meetings for First Reconciliation and was able to go back into our school classrooms for preparation with the children. We will also be returning to “in person” Confirmation preparation sessions this spring which I am very happy about.
We have not yet started any of our youth group gatherings which is the reason for this message today.
I have been so blessed and grateful to God to be doing parish ministry at our church for the past 26 years.
I love working with the youth and volunteer leaders which has helped me grow in my faith. I have learned so much from our young people and the leaders who have inspired me beyond measure. They have kept me young….or at least young in heart and mind but, on a physical level, reality is, I am getting older.
As you will see in the bulletin this week and our family website that we are posting a part time youth ministry position for our family of parishes. I have been praying and discerning about this for quite some time and have had ongoing discussions with Father Dariusz. It was also discussed at our transition team meeting last week.
I will be nearing retirement in the next few years and we need to look ahead to the future of youth ministry in our parishes. We need someone younger and energetic with fresh new ideas to lead the youth ministry forward into the future.
With that being said, I am not leaving my position at the parish but my primary focus will be sacramental preparation among many other things. I will be reducing my hours which will allow for some of the funds needed for this new part time youth ministry position.
Please pray for the parish team as we discern who will be the best fit for this position and for the Lord’s perfect will to be done.
In Christ’s service,
Rita Butler
